Joyce Hanson Obituary

HANSON Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Joyce Mattie Dula Hanson, age 90, passed away in Knoxville, Tennessee on November 19, 2011. She was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on April 20, 1921 to the late Lindsey and Mattie Dula. Joyce loved music and was a singer, songwriter, dancer and musician. She performed with the Wiley Kiser Orchestra in the 1940's. Joyce lived in Knoxville most of her adult life. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1985 and returned to Knoxville in 2007. She is of the Methodist faith and attended Bearden United Methodist Church in Knoxville and Mandarin United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. Joyce is survived by her husband of 66 years U.J. (Swede) Hanson and 3 children: Martha McNeil and husband Greg of Knoxville, TN; Ronnie Hanson of Sanary Sur Mer, France; Karen Clark and husband Jimmy of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; 9 grandchildren and a great grandson. Her kind and gentle loving spirit will be dearly missed by family and friends. The family wishes to thank Covenant Hospice for their wonderful loving care. Funeral services will be Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Highland Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Alan Smith officiating.
