KEITH UNDERWOOD Obituary

UNDERWOOD Keith Underwood, age 53, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 9, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. Born in Atlanta, GA, he was one of three children born to Herbert Lee Underwood Sr. and Addie Goins Underwood. As a young child, the family lived in Atlanta and later moved to Miami and Jacksonville, FL before settling in Fernandina Beach in 1975. Keith was a class of 1977 graduate of Fernandina Beach High School where he was a star member of the tennis team. After high school, he attended the University of Florida, where he studied Accounting. After working for a short time in Jacksonville, he returned to Fernandina Beach in 1998 to serve as Comptroller of Eagle Development and as a Property Manager for various private property owners. A lifelong student, Keith was a voracious reader, always searching for answers and encouraging younger family members to do the same. He was a devoted Child of God, reading his Bible several times through. Keith was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach. He also enjoyed ocean scuba diving, traveling, riding his Harley Fat Boy, cooking, and camping. Keith will be missed by those he leaves behind; especially his daughter, Rachel Underwood, Los Angeles, CA, whom was his passion and life; his parents, Herb and Addie Goins Underwood, Fernandina Beach, FL, his brother, Lee Underwood (Janet), Atlantic Beach, FL, his sister, Elaine Burford (Dale), Fernandina Beach, FL, nieces and nephews, Danielle McMaster (Jonnie), Stephanie Harper, Kase Harper, Katie Burford, Rhett Burford, Cody Cosper, a great niece, Frankie Jane McMaster, and Peanut, the family dog. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach with Dr. Wain Wesberry and Dr. Doug Ganyo, officiating. His family will receive friends immediately following the service at a reception, in Jim Thomas Hall, at the church. Keith will be laid to rest at a later date in the family section of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County, GA.
