To Laurie's loved ones,

Laurie was very, very special. She had the most incredible smile. She was filled with such happiness and so delightful to be near. Her spirit was so beautiful, I could only hope to aspire to have an ounce of her joyful liveliness. I pray for God's love and comfort to help all of you in this very difficult time. I pass on this saying that helped me last year with my grief: You can only go halfway into the darkest forest, then you are coming out the other side. May the Lord bless each of you and keep you close during this time and may Laurie be blessed with peace, love, joy and all and only good things in heaven with the Father.

I knew Laurie at Florida State. We were sorority sisters in Kappa Alpha Theta. Laurie was a spark of personality in the Theta house!

In case my name isn't familiar...my parents, Joe & Betty Joseph, were patients of yours at your University Blvd. office in the late 80's. You took wonderful care of them both...and, have always been held in the highest regard by our family. You've even taken care of several of their grandchildren. God bless you all...

DEAR DR. YANT AND FAMILY:

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS, I HAD A PLEASURE IN MEETING YOUR WIFE AT THE CHRISTMAS PARTY AND FEEL AS I KNEW HER SOME FROM THE WONDERFUL STORIES YOU WOULD TELL US. WHEN YOUR HEART IS EMPTY, FILLING IT WITH HAPPY MEMORIES CAN HELP YOU FIND YOUR SMILE. IT'S HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE ARE TAKEN FROM US, BUT FIND COMFORT IN KNOWING YOU WERE A SPECIAL PART OF SUCH A WELL-LIVED LIFE. TAKE HEART, TIME WILL SOFTEN THE EDGES AND EASE YOUR BURDEN. MY HEART ACHES FOR YOU, AND ALWAYS KNOW YOUR'RE NEVER ALONE. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Dear Dr. Yant & Family:

I only had the privilege of meeting your Laurie at a couple of Christmas parties for the Corporation, and knew what a gracious and lovely lady she was.

I know that your loss is indescribable right now and my words seem to fail me....but please let me leave you with one quote that always sustained me in the hardest times..."In OUR Weakness, HE is strong." Our finite minds cannot understand a loss such as this and it is overwhelming, but trying to lean on God really, really helps.

May God be real to you as never before. Only He can truly comfort.

April 27, 2003

I had the privilege of knowing and sharing friendship with Laurie. She was not only one of the most physically beautiful women I knew, but also one of the most funny, caring, and kind women ever. She was devoted to her husband and children. She had the best outlook on life and always could laugh about any situation. I am devastated she is no longer here among us. But you can bet she is taking charge from above and will see to it that the hearts of all the members of her family will gradually mend from their grief and sadness and be left with the happiest of memories...especially her beautiful smile...to keep them moving forward.

I played tennis with her and we'd power walk together; although she wasn't particularly athletic, she gave it her all and enjoyed every second. She had the best giggle and if she made a bad shot in tennis she would simply shrug her shoulders and brush it off: she was ready for the next shot.

And, oh, could she cook. We shared that passion. She loved to eat as much as I do and we'd exercise just so we could nibble at the end of our workout! I was in her kitchen when she tested many Junior League recipes for their cookbook,"A River Runs Backward."

My prayers are with her family. No one can be prepared for such an early death. But I know she, in her wise way of raising her children and being there for her husband, has built a strong emotional foundation, with the help of her God, for them so they will be able to understand her untimely death, eventually, and know she will constantly be sending her love from the other side, as we will be sending our love to Laurie from this side. I will pray for her and her family every day. She brought me much happiness in our friendship.

Much love to her family,

Linnea
