Mary Hartley Obituary

HARTLEY
Mary Luker Hartley was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 23, 1951, the daughter of the late G.T. Luker and the late Mary Weaver Luker. She graduated from Wolfson High School and Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Mary married Richard E. Hartley in 1976. She was the Program Director for Gateway Girl Scout Council in Jacksonville and later the Training Assistant Director for Northwest Georgia Girl Scout Council in Atlanta. Mary retired from Episcopal School of Jacksonville where she served as Registrar for many years. Mary and Rick were active members of Southside Baptist Church and First United Methodist Church in Marietta, GA where Mary served on the Children's Ministry board. Later, they were members of Assumption Catholic Church. Mary was a past president of the ADPi Alumnae Association and the State ADPI association. Mary was an active member of the community serving on the board of the Junior League, and as a member of many community organizations. She loved to travel, be it epic road trips with her children or leading Girl Scouts through Europe and the Caribbean. She loved to laugh, cheering her family and friends with a sharp wit and humorous stories. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her family came first, and they were always a source of tremendous pride for her. She is survived by a constellation of loving family and cousins and truly wonderful friends who were a deep well of comfort and aid in her final illness. More specifically she is survived by her husband Rick, son Andy, daughter Mary Catherine, daughter-in-law Angela, granddaughter Elizabeth, sisters Olivia (Chuck) Bush and Suzy (Bill) Thompson and their sons Charlie Bush and Robbie and Will Thompson.
