Robert F. Bell Sr.

BELL, SR. Mr. Robert F. Bell, Sr., age 78 of Yulee, passed away on Saturday morning, September 12, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of the late James F. "Frank" Bell and Annie Estelle Motes. Mr. Bell grew up on the Westside of Jacksonville in the Cecil Field area and attended Baldwin High School. He worked for many years for the City of Jacksonville where he was the Supervisor of Grounds and Maintenance for the Duval County School System and the Florida Junior College Campuses. In the mid 1970's he and his family moved to Nassau County to live on the waterfront and pursue his love of fishing and gardening. After retirement from Jacksonville he worked for the Nassau County School Board for a short time. As a young child, he grew up and was a longtime member of the Otis Road Church of God in Jacksonville. He was presently a member of the Blackrock Baptist Church, Yulee, FL. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56years, Ouida Fay Helms Bell, who passed away in 2006. Mr. Bell leaves behind, his two sons, Greg Bell (Sherry), Yulee, FL, Robert "Junior" Bell (Marie), Jacksonville, FL, his daughter, Bobbie Fay Meadows (Jimmy), Snellville, GA, a brother, William A. "Billy" Bell, Jacksonville, FL, seven grandchildren, James, Tonya, Bobby, Karen, Amy, Corey, Michael, 2 great grandchildren, Jacob Schwinghammer, Jacob Powell and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday from the Blackrock Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Bowen and Reverend Ashley Butler, officiating. Mr. Bell will be laid to rest beside his wife in Hughes Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
