Robert Ellis Obituary
ELLIS Robert Lee Ellis of Amelia Island, Florida, passed away on July 15, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. He was born August 9, 1931, in New York City, the son of Charlotte and Steve Stalonis of Dowagiac, Michigan. He was raised in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Western Michigan University and the Georgetown University School of Law. He served in the United States Army where he was a member of the Special Forces 82nd Airborne Division. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Whelan Ellis, his children from his first marriage, Mark Ellis, Scott Ellis, Kim and Frank Zych and children Lauren and Joe, Eric Ellis, Bruce and Leigh Ann Ellis and children Jordan, Ryan, Katherine and Kristin. He is also survived by Stephen Hess, Bob and Diana Hess and children Caitlyn and Christopher, Mary Beth and Jack Richards and son Calvin, Susanne and Justin Pelham-Webb and children Arthur and Bobbie, Barbie and Jeff Plummer and son Jamey. Recognized asone of the leading trial attorneys in Virginia and the District of Columbia, he spent his professional career with the law firm of Siciliano, Ellis, Dyer and Boccarosse, of which he was a partner. He was a member of the Virginia and DC Bars, and the founder of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. He was a resident of Fairfax, Virginia for 40 years and was an active member of the Country Club of Fairfax, where he pursued his passion for golf. He also loved hunting, sailing, and flying, and was a founding member of the Braddock Road Youth Club, where he spent many years coaching Little League football and basketball. After moving to Amelia Island, he quickly became involved in the community that he loved so much. He served as President of the Amelia Island Men's Golf Association, Vice President of the Amelia Island Plantation Civic Association and President of the Heron Oaks Owners Association. A celebration of his life will be held 11 AM on Monday, July 25, 2005, at Walker'sLanding on Amelia Island, Florida. Words of inspiration will be delivered by The Reverend Father Brian Eburn, pastor of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
