Robert Miller Obituary
Dr. Robert Miller, age 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville with family at his side. He was born October 5, 1939 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, lived in Baltimore, Maryland for 18 years, and later moved to Ormond Beach, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Stetson University and his Doctorate of Medicine Degree from the University of Miami Medical School in 1966. After years of training, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he practiced Internal Medicine and Endocrinology for 48 years. He was the most loving and caring physician whose motto was always "First, do no harm".
He was a member of Congregation Ahavath Chesed.
He lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasures; books, the beach, Bob Dylan, sports cars, vacationing with his family, and following Miami Hurricanes football.
He was preceded in death by his father Paul, and his mother, Dorothy. He is survived by his wife and loving partner of 52 years, Deanna Miller; daughters, Rebecca and Tamara; granddaughter, Dalton, and grand dog, Davi.
Family will receive friends and relatives for visitation and respects from 5-7pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Hardage-Giddens, The Oaklawn Chapel.
Private interment will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Robert's honor to University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Miller was a great doctor and even more a great person! He was my doctor, my oldest daughter´s doctor, and was about to be my youngest daughter´s doctor before his passing. He was genuine and caring and we miss him and his sweet smile. I thought about him a few days ago and remembered how wonderful he was. If I were to use one word to describe Dr. Miller it would be the word "UNFORGETTABLE!" Many blessings upon his family!

I miss this wonderful man who was my physician for over 20 years. He was truly as kind and caring as his reputation. I can't imagine anyone taking his place in the medical profession. My heart goes out to his family and they are in my prayers.

To the family of Dr. Miller, I am very sorry to learn of the passing of such a great doctor and friend. I was a patient of Dr. Miller's for nineteen years. He was such a caring and compassionate physician. I changed my insurance plan in 2018 and he wasn't in my network. This morning, I was online searching my Health Insurance Provider website to see what networks Dr. Miller was participating. When I could not find his name, I immediately began looking for the University Blvd address, nothing appeared. I then searched the Jacksonville Obituaries and found that he had passed away. He will be greatly missed by so many here in Jacksonville.

Dr. Miller my family will always remember you for your love and caring. You kept my Mom ( Meryl Jarrell) alive for 77 years. You took care of my grandparents, Mom, myself and my husband a retired Firefighter. You will live in our hearts and memories forever. God bless your precious wife, family and friends. I was so very sorry to learn of Dr. Miller's passing. He had been my Endocrinologist for several years. His diagnosis and treatment have given me a better quality of life. For that, I will always be truly grateful. He was so kind and genuinely cared for his patients. His positive attitude and sense of humor allways made me feel better. I was fortunate to have seen him one last time at my appointment this past April. He will be sorely missed. I want his family to know that I am praying for you, and for God to be with you during this most difficult of times. As long as you keep your memories of him close, he will always live in your heart.

Deanna and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. When I found out last May that he would be retiring due to medical issues, I was devastated. When Janet called and told me of his passing I just sat and cried. He was not only my doctor, but my friend of 42 years, who saved my life. He and my husband, who was also his patient and passed away in March, would talk about Miami Hurricane football for much of every appointment. He was a very special man and the best doctor anyone could ever imagine. He will be greatly missed and there will never be another one like him. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Dear Miller Family, Dr Miller was such a gift to me and my family and friends. He was my thyroid doctor for over 20 years. He was such an incredible doctor, person and friend. His compassion, exceptional care and vast knowledge just cannot be found in our fast paced world. His smile and genuine concern were always evident in every appointment. I have referred so many people to him through the years and they each found the same amazing approach from this humble, caring man. Family of Dr. Miller
Dr. Miller was my Doctor as well as my mother and other people i knew. He is and forever will be missed. It was also a pleasant visit to see him. He was very kind, caring, honest and efficient. His staff was always a delight to see.
He never treated his patients without his friendly smiles and concerning thoughts.
I loved the scrolls of pictures of old writings he had on the wall in his San Marco office.
Condolences to the Family, but be assured he was a wonderful Doctor as im sure you know.

An unassuming,caring soul who always seemed to put himself last-if at all. We talked at length one evening on the subject of cars, and at the end of it you could have assembled a Corvette bolt by bolt from it. His passion for his craft speaks for itself through a countless list of patients and long associations with fellow Doctors. His passion for life described now,in sorrow of his passing, by those many patients he helped, the Doctors and Nurses he worked with, and the friends he made throughout his life. I am honored to have known him long enough to be able to see for myself what constitutes a remarkable human being. Rest easy, Good Doctor. You have set the bar high.

Mrs. Miller and family, I was told last October, 2018 that Dr. Miller had to immediately retire and was in hopes that he would get well and would be able to enjoy his retirement with family. I am so very sad for your loss. Dr. Miller was always smiling and he was such a nice man and an outstanding doctor in his field of medicine and I will never forget how he took such great care of my daughter, Jessica and me. May the wonderful memories of this wonderful doctor and family man sustain you throughout this difficult time. Dear Deanna & Family, I was saddened to see Robert's obituary today. I still remember coming to your home to babysit Rebecca while ya'll went to the hospital to have Tamara.
