HAPPY VETERANS DAY DAD!

A Soldier, A Veteran, A HERO!

Dad, as we've done in years past, we should be planning our visit to the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall.

We should be watching the DVD that showcases the Smallboat Warfare in Vietnam, that includes the boats your unit used to carry out its missions.

You should be telling me the stories only you could tell about your experiences in the War (only the ones you wanted me to hear; I know you kept the horrific ones to yourself).

You were ALWAYS MY HERO, but it wasn't until I was making arrangements for your military funeral, that I found numerous letters from both the US Command and the Vietnamese Liberation Forces that confirmed your true HEROISM.

As a US Navy Corpsman serving with the US Marine Corps in Vietnam - you put yourself in harms way many times to save the lives of many others, and never once hesitated to wonder "friend or enemy?"

Yet, you never mentioned these acts of selflessness to me or Mom. I guess you always thought you were just doing your duty. That typifies the man you always were and always will be.

I miss you so much Dad, and can't make it to the "Wall" this year without you. But at least I know, you have now met up with Sgt Mjr. Donald W. Bean and all the others with whom you fought and served beside in Vietnam. Your comrades, your buddies, your friends. Some of whom you may have lost during the War; now reunited once again.

It is a great honor to be your daughter, and a privilege to call you my DAD, my HERO!

All My Love -

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD!

I miss you so much everyday, but especially on days like today when we shared great times, many laughs and funny cards.

We should be at Chili's, you enjoying the Cobb Salad, and me and Mom splitting the Appetizer Platter.

Yet I know in my heart, you are both at Peace and that I will see you again.

Dad, until then, know that I will always LOVE you and keep all our wonderful memories alive in my heart.

Your devoted daughter,

Misty

Roger,
Well it's now June and we are still keeping yours and mom's memories alive. Tina and I have made many trips out to see you both. Tina is getting so much better with handling everything. We have so much fun picking out flowers and taken them to ya'll and just sitting there and talking about all the good times. Mom has her special flowers just what she likes, and you have the flags that honor your brave time in the service. Tina and I will always be the best of friends and keep sharing special visits with you and mom. Please find comfort that Tina is doing great and is proudly honoring the Bowman name.

We will see you and mom soon on our next visit.
Much love and respect for you, mom and Tina!

Dear Dad,
I have always been "Daddy's little girl". Even now.

I can still remember slipping past the big man (an MP) and running to the airplane when I saw my Daddy, because I missed you while you were away for so long (I was too young to understand at the time you were fighting a war in Vietnam).

Growing up in a military family, you opened my life to a world of vast experiences and opportunities, giving me a priceless education never to be found in any school.

Yet, you kept me grounded and humble by instilling in me the values passed to you by your parents.

So, it is not an exaggeration when I say "You are the world's BEST Dad!

As with Mom, I am at peace because I know you are at Peace, and you and Mom have reunited for your 48th anniversary.

I Will Always Love Dad! Thank You for Always Loving Me!
