Hey Simia... grl it has been so long. I just wish I was able to see what great of a woman you would have became. What great of a friend you would be. All these years and I still find myself thinking of you and getting a little emotional. I just cannot find the strength to let go. I miss you dearly. You will always be apart of me. All the fun times we had lol. Chile I still think bout those days and just smile and laugh about it. Even the times at my bday party lol. I still look at all our pictures. I wish I can just get one lifetime with you lol. I know that's asking for a bit much tho. But it's okay cause you know I am going to see you again. I know your 14th anniversary is tomorrow. into my head and I just started talking to her. Then today I read

I am so sorry this happened to you. Many times I saw you walking home from school and stopped to give you a ride home and I was not there this past year for you. I have thought of you so many times throughout this past school year because of course I compare other students to you and think of how I wish they knew how to be like you. You, baby doll, were a special young lady. You were always soooo happy and knew how to bring a smile to others faces. Everyone including other kids would hug you and kiss you. I remember how irritated that made you at times but so many people just thought you were absolutely beautiful. I still have your red journal for math warmups that I have used as a model for my students last school year. You knew how to do things right! Remember the times we all had with Ms. Mims. We certainly had a family at school and I see that many of those family members have stayed with you. I see how they have written you. Simia, I miss you so much. I attended Simia's funeral on Saturday and did not get an opportunity to say anything, so I thought this would be a good way to speak of her.
I first met Simia while working for Community Connections in Kendall Court. She was one of the first students to join the after-school program there. She was a very special girl and I am blessed to have known her. She did everything she could to please me and I helped her in every way I could. She was definitely a bright young lady and one that will be missed by me and my family.
On my last day at Kendall Court before I was transferred I had to practically kick Simia out of the center because we were so close, and she did not want me to leave. (smile) At the funeral, it was mentioned that she was passed down from me to Coach Pinckney to Tammy Seymore, and that is true, but in a loving way. When I left, I told the staff that she was special and to look after her. That is exactly what they did. We took care of our girl! All of us tried to be a positive influence not only in Simia's life, but for all the children in the ater school program at Kendall Court. We always wanted the children to have aspirations and desires to make something of themselves in life. We encouraged them to do their homework, excell in school, and just be an all-around student! That is just what Simia did. She made us proud even though we were not her parents.
Carolyn, be proud of who she was and what she represented. She was a wonderful young lady and we will miss her tremendously!

Well lil bit, you finally made it home. God bless your soul. We know you are dancing and rejoicing with the best of them. We remember the first day we met you in Kendall Court (summer of 2004)you, your sister, and your little brother had the warmest and the biggest smile we have ever seen. Laughing with you three all the time, just kept us happy. From then on we knew you were a shining star! You were like a sister to us all. Never thought we would be saying good-bye so soon, but in our hearts you will always be, for you are not gone, you are just sleeping.
