Thomas Benton Obituary

BENTON Retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief, and Purple Heart Recipient, Thomas Tom Gordon Benton, Sr, 67, of Jacksonville, FL, departed this Earth in the early hours of Friday, November 6, 2015. Tom was born in Hamilton, Ohio and graduated from Eaton High School. He was in the Marine Corps from July 1967- July 1969, and fought in the Vietnam War, earning his Purple Heart., leaving as Corporal in the 7th Engineers. In November, 1973, he enlisted the U.S. Navy, traveling the world and later retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, EACS, in March of 1997. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Maria Lisa Benton, two daughters: Deborah Kay Blackstone of Somerset, KY, and Angela Maria Benton, of Jacksonville, Fl.; a son, Thomas G. Benton, Jr; four grandchildren, and one great granddaughter, three sisters, Sandra Borridaile, Virgina Benton, And Beverly Campbell; and a brother, Richard Benton; all of whom will forever hold them in their hearts. He is predeceased by his parents, Richard and Beulah Benton, and a younger sister, Linda Peters. Arrangements being made by the Neptune Society.
