William Ossmer Obituary

OSSMER Funeral service for William T. Ossmer, 78, Ormound Beach will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug, 2004, at Haigh-Black Funeral Home, 167 Vining Court, Ormond Beach. Bill was born in Petosky, Mich., and came to this area in 1985. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the 82nd and 101 Airborne Divisions. He fought in Battle of the Bulge. Melmedy, Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe, which earned him a Bronze Star, Bronze Service Arrowhead, Victory Medal European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three battle stars and two overseas service bars, Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart. After being discharged from the Army, he was married and entered Stetson University where he became a member of Phi Alpha Theta Historical Society. He graduated in 1950 and joined 1950 and joined the Prudential Life Insurance Company of America as a agent. From that position he transferred and promoted many times earning the designation of C.L.U. He was promoted to Director of the South Ce ntral Home Office in Jacksonville and from there he transferred to Orange Park and retired in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Flo; daughter, Marjorie Hughes; four sons, William T. III, Stephen, Michael, and Patrick; 3 grandsons; and five great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL. 32119.
