ROBINSON Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Zettie Mae Robinson, 89, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013, surrounded by family and loved ones. Zettie (daughter of Richard and Ethel Lewis) was born October 23, 1924 in Birmingham, AL. She lived in Millen, Georgia where she met and married Cesear Robinson. They were blessed with 12 children. In 1966, she relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. Zettie enjoyed a rich and full life. As a loving, compassionate, Christian woman she served her family, friends and community well. She has been a family caregiver for her mother, aunt, uncle and a friend in need. She was a long-time member, usher, deaconess, and mother at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She volunteered with Club Favor for over 15 years. She started her volunteerism in the Independent Living Program (ILP) in the beginning years as a Respite In-Home Volunteer. According to her co-workers and friends, She is a true Samaritan from her heart. She was nominated for awards because of her love for others, her loyalty, her devotion to her responsibilities, her outstanding work ethics and her generosity . Her awards include ILP Certificate of Recognition for Volunteer Services to the Elderly (1996 1997), ILP Certificate of Volunteer Appreciation (1998), CLUB FAVOR Volunteer Certificate of Appreciation (1999), Caring Volunteer Certificate of Appreciation (2000), FAVOR Certificate of Volunteer Appreciation (2001), FAVOR Volunteer of the Month (2002), CLUB FAVOR Volunteer of the Year Award (2003). In 2005, Zettie received the State of Florida Department of Elderly Affairs Golden Choice Volunteer Award. In April 2009, she received a Certificate of Appreciation for being a Senior Companion Volunteer from 1995-2009. To support her children and herself, Zettie worked diligently for several employers including Kentucky Fried Chicken (7 yrs) and Pic N Save (11 yrs). She retired from Pic N Save. Zettie leaves to mourn her passing 10 children - Doris Stewart (Robert), Laurine R. Collier, Savannah R. Hartzog, Geneva R. Walker, Cesear Robinson Jr., Eleanor Dixon, Calvin Robinson, Norman Robinson, Brenda Robinson and Alonzo Robinson (Annette); Stepdaughter Barbara Sams; Stepson- Capus Riles; 29 grandchildren Michael Lamar (Alexis), Rosalyn Hartzog, Fonda Lamar, David Walker, Reginald Stewart, Rolonda Johnson, Tellisa Robinson, Eric Dixon, Dametria Newsome, LaShawn Taylor (Darien), Erica Stewart, Tavares Palamore, Cedric Newsome Sr., Adrian Burns Sr., Tameka Howze, Karen Dixon, Latoya Smith, Javier Coffee, Jamal Hill, Matthew Robinson, Tellasanya Robinson, Capus Riles III, Cleveland Riles, Cynthia Polanco (Max), Samantha Riles, Inez Brown, Sabrina Riles, Derrick Henry (Zebra), Michelle Wells (Lenarious); 3 Godchildren - Flora Peterson, Johnny Jackson, Eugene Brooks; 5 siblings- Alfonso Lewis (Ruby), Sadie Rhodes, Sidney Lewis, Vivian Tripp (Edward), Earl Lewis; 31 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; devoted friend - Lola Owens; many other relatives and friends. Two children (Jeanette and Willie Robinson), two grandchildren (Shantel Dixon and James Hazelton), and one great-grandson (Keenan Johnson) preceded her in death. The Robinson family will receive friends on Friday, November 8th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1329 North Market Street. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Saturday, November 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Moriah House of God Saints In Christ, 1005 Odessa Street. Entombment in Evergreen Cemetery by the EASTSIDE CHAPEL OF MARION GRAHAM MORTUARIES, 900 A. Philip Randolph Blvd.
