MARION ALEXANDER Obituary

Marion Alexander passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the age of 93.
Born on Aug. 17, 1921, in Arnot, Marion was the eldest of 10 children born to Raymond and Genevieve Mase.
After graduation from Blossburg High School she married Cameron Alexander of Liberty on July 6, 1940. They were happily married for 61 years. Marion and Cam first lived in Elmira, N.Y., where she worked at Eclipse. After a few years they moved back to the family farm in Liberty where they made a home for their growing family. Marion was employed at the Blossburg State Hospital as a receptionist until its closing. She finished her employment at Liberty Lingerie.
Marion was a strong willed, hardworking, determined and independent woman. She enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks and also loved reading, gardening, history and discussing politics. She looked forward to long conversations with her sisters, family, neighbors and friends. Marion always had an open door and loved preparing big meals and having great talks with family and friends. Marion was active with the Blossburg VFW, Sebring Grange, Arnot Sportsman Club and was a strong advocate for the MIA/POW.
Marion was predeceased by her husband, Cameron Alexander; son Robert G. Alexander; sisters, Betty Edwards, Lois VanDeventer, Evelyn Lovejoy; and brother, Robert R. Mase (MIA/Korean War). She is survived by her son, Richard C. (Sharon) Alexander of Liberty; daughter, Jean (Daniel) Stevens of Tioga; daughter-in-law, Carol Alexander of Liberty; 13 grandchildren including Richard G., Michael, David (Jeanne), Ryan, Melissa Landis, Christopher, Brian, Derek, Kevin (Karen), Todd (Amy) Alexander, Camilla (Keith) Miner, Corinne (Doug) Rapalee, and Carla Stevens; 16 great-grandchildren including Carter, Kyler, Claire, Cameron, Kevin II, Caiden, Kolton, Michael, Michala, and Elijah Alexander, Alexis and Keegan Landis, Daniela, Zachary and Joshua Miner, and Alexandra Rapalee; sisters; Dorothy Jones, Sally Payne, Janet (Robert)VanNoy, Joan (Brad) Read, and Carole (Robert) Thomas; brother–in-law Edwin VanDeventer; many nieces and nephews.
Marion's family would like to express appreciation for all those who have helped care for her including Office of Aging, the staff at Broad Acres Nursing Home, Southern Care Hospice Services and the Rev. Richard Adams.
Funeral services for Marion will be held Tuesday June 9, at noon at Liberty Lutheran Church, 4478 Williamson Trail, Liberty. Friends may call prior to the service from 10 a.m. to noon. Graveside services will follow the funeral service at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, 3536 Nauvoo Road, Liberty.

To all of Marion's family, We send our condolences as you mourn the loss of a fine lady. You are fortunate to have many fond memories of a caring person, who always centered life around her family. She was well known and liked, Sebring has lost a special neighbor and friend.
