Janice,
We just got home from spending a week with Dad ... he reminisced about Dick and what a special friend he was to him and mom all those years. He spoke so kindly about you and what a gift you were to Dick. We love you both very much and are praying for you as you approach the anniversary of your sweet husband´s homegoing. Thank you for the wonderful blessing you were to my parents for so many years. May God continue to give you grace and comfort and His peace.

Dick VanDuyne was the dearest friend to my father and we are so thankful for the sweet blessing he was to both my parents. One of the most genuinely Christ-like men, he gave me my first job as a teenager and was a man of unwavering integrity and unconditional kindness. He taught me much as I worked at Van Duyne Dairy during high school. My father, John Buker, shared many sweet memories when he heard the news of Dick´s homegoing. He and Dick sang together in the church choir and in a quartet and were known as "plan B" for the special music at church. When planned special music fell through, they were always willing to fill in as a duet.
Dad is now living in Tennessee and sorry to miss today´s services. He said "Dick beat me there but I know he´ll save me a seat. And, one day, we will sing together in that heavenly choir. Our love and prayers are with you Janice, and with each of the children.

Dick was a most beloved part his Christian family at Tabernacle Baptist Church. He gave of himself in many ways. He offered his bass voice to our choir & congregation. He would pull you aside to ask how things were going and offer words of encouragement, and you knew he prayed about matters God laid on his heart. His compassion showed in many ways, including through his generous giving both monetarily and through his talent in wood crafting projects for the church. He is already very missed. Looking forward to seeing you again, dear brother.
