VIDA COMPTON Obituary

Vida Mae Compton went to be with her Lord while at home surrounded by loving family, Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
She was the wife of Theodore Robert Compton, who survives. Vida was born to Merle and Neva Webster on Jan. 14, 1929.
She grew up in Wellsboro and graduated from Charleston High School. There she met the love of her life whom she married on July 24, 1947. Ted and Vida began married life on the family farm in Charleston Township. Over the years they welcomed six children into their family, Deborah Lyn (Ralph) Youmans, Denise Linette (Jerry) Gee, Deanna Lee (Joe) Powell, Theodore Brian (Natalie) Compton, Danelle Lana (Rex) Fuller, Thad Benjamin (Cyndi) Compton. Ted and Vida have 21 grandchildren, Jacki Powell, Jennifer Messmer, Brett, Chris, Jeremiah Gee and Bethanie Henry, Heather Doty, Cory Powell, Maegan McConnell, Nathan, Charles, Spencer and Elizabeth Compton, Tyrel and Shane Fuller, Jeremy and Justin Bedford, Isaiah, Elijah, Olivia and Julia Compton. They have 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren, who all survive.
Vida always enjoyed teaching Sunday School and various other ministries at her church, The Holliday Christian and Missionary Alliance. Vida was a dedicated teacher of children, especially with Child Evangelism Fellowship. She was always overjoyed when one of the children she taught came to know Jesus Christ. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She counted it a joy to pray daily for family, friends and those in need. Ted and Vida's door was always open and through the years their hospitality extended to many who stayed with them for months.
Vida is survived by her brother, Paul W. Webster of Wellsboro and predeceased by her sister, Helen Brooks Robinson.
Friends and family are invited to Vida's Life Celebration on Friday, June 1, from 7 to 9 p.m.,, at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, a "Life Celebration Home," 139 Main St., Wellsboro. On Saturday, June 2, there will be visitation at 10 a.m., with service to follow at 11 a.m., at the Holliday CMA Church, Oakwood Drive, Holliday, with her Pastor, Erik Ferguson, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 16 Charleston St., Wellsboro, Pa., 16901. Ted & Family, My thoughts & prayers & love to all of you during this time of great sadness-yet rejoicing that your loved one has crossed over to Glory. Vida was a special friend to us & wonderful neighbor to my late parents on the Plaza. I am most grateful for her faithful teaching of children & am blessed to say she taught all four of mine in Sunday School & VBS during their growing up years.
