William Lewis "Lewie" Krise, 65, of Elkland, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Skilled Nursing in Towanda. Lewie was born September 26, 1959, in Corning, N.Y., a son of Donald Lewis Krise and Vivian June (Culbertson) Shaut.
Lewie did autobody and mechanic work on cars, small engine repair, and plowed snow. In his younger years he was a Boy Scout and enjoyed building and flying remote control planes. Lewie is survived by his mother and stepfather, Vivian and S. Donald Shaut of Elkland; sisters, Cyndie (Aloysius) Peck of Elmira, N.Y., and Donna Bosenbark of Chambersburg; sister-in-law, Patricia Krise of Palm Bay, Fla.; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog, Cici.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Kevin Krise.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Lewie will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Osceola. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 South Main Street, Mansfield, is assisting the family. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com

Lew spent so much time at my house when we were younger he was like another brother. He was one of those guys who wasn't always understood but who was one who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He never let his 'disability' keep him from living life. Rest in peace, Lew, you've earned it!

Lewie was the only high school classmate that I kept in contact with consistently. I am very happy that I was in the area in September and was able to see him one last time. Considering that the odds were against him having such a productive life, Lewie killed it. He did things that most people with his handicap could not have done. While I am not really a fan of the term 'handicapable', he is one person that clearly fits that moniker. I prefer to think that, though he was a disabled person, he did not let that define him. People that are feeling sorry for themselves or blame circumstances or the world in general for their lot in life could look at Lewie and see that it is your response to the difficulties of life that determines the quality of it. He is a dear friend and will be missed.
