JUDY PETERS Obituary

JUDY PETERS Judy Peters, 83 of Sharpsville died Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at The Waters of Tipton that had become her second home. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 29, 1940, at the Beechwood Hospital in rural Tipton County to Don and Marjorie (Shuck) Warner. On February 12, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Peters. They moved to Bill's family farm where she lived for 60 years. Judy was a 1958 graduate of Sharpsville High School where she made lifetime friendships. Upon her graduation, she attended John Herron Art School for her first year of college, fostering her creativeness. She finished her bachelor's degree from IUK and later earned her master's degree, from Indiana University, both for elementary education. She used these degrees as she taught elementary art for 30 years at Indian Heights School. Judy's favorite thing to do in life was being with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, especially barn pictures and she excelled at drawing cartoons. She was a member of the Sharpsville Methodist Church and later attended Rock Prairie in Tipton. Judy and Bill had two beloved children, Bill Peters and wife Vonda of Sharpsville and Jenny Mundell and husband Mike of Sharpsville. Grandchildren include Brady Peters and wife Sam, Molly Peters, Cole Mundell and wife Courtney; great-grandchildren are Brooks, Scout, Asa and Sibley Peters and McClaine Mundell. Judy's siblings are Carolyn Tomlinson and husband Ron of Kokomo, and Terry Warner and wife Mary of Deatsville, Alabama. She has several nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill in 2016 and a brother, Donnie Warner. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18 at 2:00 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Markins will preside. Burial will follow at Sharpsville Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. The family would like to give a very special thank you to everyone at The Waters of Tipton for the loving care they provided. Memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship fund created in Judy's honor at the Tipton County Foundation, 1020 W. Jefferson Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
