Ray Noble Obituary

RAY EDWARD NOBLE Ray Edward Noble passed away peacefully at his residence on March 13, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1936, to Arthur H. and Ruby C. (Ray) Noble. He attended Hobbs School from first through eighth grade and graduated from Tipton High School in 1954. He then attended Purdue University and graduated with a BS degree in Agriculture with a focus on horticulture and food science. Ray married Cynthia Ann Warner on March 31, 1956; they were just a few days shy of their 68th wedding anniversary. They had two children, daughter, Tamera "Tami" Noble Brown and son Mark Edward (Brenda) Noble. Grandchildren, Robert Brown (Tiare) of Tipton and Patrick Brown of Seattle, Washington, Chelsea (Jon Paul) Houser of Aurora, Colorado, Jason (Kristen) Noble, Sarah (Blake) Barber, and Aaron Noble, all of Tipton; great-grandchildren, Jack, Walker, and Cecilia Brown, Cade and Cora Barber and Evelyn and Ruby Noble. He is also survived by one brother, Dan Noble (Annie) Noble, and three nephews. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Andrea (Warner) and Jerry Elledge and their son also survive. Ray was preceded in death by his mother Ruby C. (Ray) Noble, his father Arthur H. Noble, stepmother Mildred (Teuscher) Noble; two sons-in-law, Robert H. Brown, and Don S. Havens. Ray started his career in food processing in Dundee, Florida working for an orange juice concentrate company. He joined the Family Canning and Farming Corporations in 1958 and became President of Ray Brothers and Noble Canning Co. Inc. in 1968 serving until his retirement in 2012. He was also Vice President of Ray Bros. Farms, Inc. Ray and Dan ran the companies together until 2004. Ray was the past president of the Indiana Canners Association and the Institute of Professional Food Technologists. He was also on the Board of Directors for the National Canners Association. Ray was also active on the Tipton County Sheriff's Merit Board, Elwood Visiting Nurses Association Board of Directors, Tipton County Council on Aging (Encore Center) Board of Directors, and the Tipton County Economic Development Corporation. He was the Democrat Tipton County Chairperson for many years. Ray attended Hobbs Christian Church and was active with the Madison Township Fire Department. He was a member of the Tipton Kiwanis, Tipton Elks, Tipton Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine. He was also a member of the Shriner's mini-cycle club. He was an active member and the treasurer of the Tipton County RC Club. He enjoyed playing golf in Tipton and Lake Wales, Florida where he and Cynthia had a home and wintered for many years. Ray was very fond of his pony (a bright red Ford Mustang). He loved to hear the sound of the roaring engine. Ray was never without a joke or two to share; the jokes were always relevant to events or circumstances. We cannot close without mentioning Dolly, Dandy, and Belle, his favorite furry dog companions who will be resting with him. Ray's family would like to thank the devoted and loving caregivers of Heart & Soul Caring for their continued care and the staff with Paradigm Health who provided Palliative and Hospice Care. Services will be held at Young-Nichols Funeral Home on Sunday, March 17, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the funeral at 4:00 p.m. An Elk's Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. and a Masonic service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Ray will be buried in Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.
