Cinicola
Alexander Steven "Pepsie" Cinicola, 82, of West Broadway, Jim Thorpe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, in the home of his daughter, surrounded by his loving family. He was married to the late Mary Ann (Vaccaro) Cinicola before her passing in 1991.
He was a supervisor at the former New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, for 35 years before retiring in 1998. He then went on to help his son with his electrical business for 20 years.
Born in Summit Hill, he was a son of the late Lorenzo and Esther (Kane) Cinicola.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Jim Thorpe. He coached its CYO basketball team, the Immaculate Conception Squires, for 18 years and took the team to its first Diocese Championship.
He liked hunting and fishing and also enjoyed going to different salvage yards for auto parts for his friends and family.
A devoted family man, he loved spending time with his entire family, including his cousins, many nieces and nephews, his children and most especially his grandkids. He was very close to all of them and was loved by everyone.
Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Heydt; two sons, Lorenzo, and his wife, Lori, and Eric, and wife, Barbara; four grandchildren, Corey Cinicola, Alex Heydt, Gabby Cinicola and Nik Cinicola; a great-grandson, Emmett Cinicola; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by two sons, Pasquale and Michael; four brothers, Patrick, Lawrence, Carmen and Edward; five sisters, Donetta Mahacek, Theresa Dubosky, Rose Zurn, Sarah Straubinger and Mary (Cookie) Dennis; and a son-in-law, James Heydt.
Service: Mass of the Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 180 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe, with the Rev. James J. Ward officiating. Interment will be private for immediate family only. Call 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church. Arrangements by Melber Funeral Home, Jim Thorpe. Masks are required, please.
