Bertha Meckes Obituary

Mrs. Bertha G. Meckes

Mrs. Bertha G. Meckes, 91, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 25, 2022. She was married to John Meckes for 68 years before his passing in 2020.

Born in Penn Forest Township, she was a daughter of the late Asher and Mary (Diehl) Heckman.

She was a member of Christ UCC, Jim Thorpe, where she was active on the worship and altar committee. She also volunteered with the Red Cross for over 25 years.

Surviving are her loving daughter Renee, and her husband, Michael Seyfried; two grandsons who she loved dearly, Christopher Seyfried, and his companion, Allie, and Gregory Seyfried; three sisters, Orpha, Alice and Nancy; and two brothers, Frank and Lawrence.

She was also preceded in death by her "other daughter," Therese; four sisters, Elsie, Edith, Pauline and Joyce; and two brothers, Lloyd and Walter.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe, with Pastor Dana Beil officiating. Interment, Evergreen Cemetery, Jim Thorpe. Viewing 9:30-11 a.m. Friday.

Bertha was a lady who stole my heart!! I got to know who while she was a resident at Mahoning Valley! I truly feel blessed to have gotten to spend time with her! Such a loving and wonderful soul! Sometimes in life you meet people unexpectedly that make a great and lasting impression, to me she was one of those people! I absolutely loved and adored her! I will never forget her, she´s in my heart forever!!
