Beverly Scherer Obituary
Beverly J. "Bevy" Scherer, 66, of Palmerton, passed away Monday, March 3 in Mahoning Valley Nursing Home, Mahoning Twp. She was the wife of LeRoy Scherer. They were married 50 years last December.
She worked as a sewing machine operator for the former Fernbrook Mills, Palmerton, for many years.
Beverly was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Palmerton.
She was an amazing mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with Leroy traveling to area flea markets to hunt for treasures and cruising for ice cream in their '67 Oldsmobile convertible. She also loved to sew and crochet.
Volunteering was very important to Beverly. She cherished the hours she volunteered at the Nearly New shop and other places with her dear friend Priscilla Offen.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Bonnie John and Mary Jane (Fredricks) Kleinsmith.
Survivors: Husband; daughters, Annette Lacko, widow of Tom, Maxine Scherer and partner Jason Costenbader; son, Thomas; grandson, Alexander Warnken; sisters, Brenda and husband Douglas Borger; Barbara and husband Jeffrey Kulp; nieces and nephew. Beverly was predeceased by her sister Bonnie Kraftician.
Prayer service: 11 a.m. Friday, March 7 at T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Call 10-11 a.m. Friday.

Sorry for your loss. I went to school with Bev and although we weren't good friends I always smile when I think of her. I sat next to her in 9th grade English and we had a teacher that wouldnt allow gum chewing. We got yelled at and made to throw it away, but Bev liked her gum and would chew it everyday in that class and would not hide that fact. The teacher would walk to her desk everyday with the garbage can and make her throw it away. It never detered Bev from chewing her gum. Smile.

My condolences to Leroy and family and a blessing for sweet Beverly. I´ve known Bev for a long time and always stopped to see her at Mahoning when I was back in PA. Although she couldn´t speak, I feel she recognized me and knew my presence. Rest in peace sweet lady and give a special hug to my dear friend Gail Berger.
