Brian Carroll Obituary
Brian "Har" Carroll, 52, of Summit Hill, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at his home after an eight month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Carra V. McDonald.
Born in Coaldale, he was the son of Mary Florence (Sharpe) Carroll and the late Harry Carroll.
He was a 1987 graduate of Marian Catholic High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Kutztown University.
Brian taught at McAdoo Catholic before settling into his career as a third-grade teacher at Jim Thorpe School District's Penn-Kidder Campus.
He loved teaching, and he loved his students. Brian was quick to give a nickname, and he often remembered the story behind the moniker long after his pupils left his classroom. BC was also a longtime coach at Panther Valley and Jim Thorpe for both boys' and girls' basketball.
Brian's faith was unshakeable and he was a lifetime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe.
To say that Har was a sports fanatic would be an extreme understatement. Everyone knew that he loved Notre Dame and the Yankees, but Har never turned down an opportunity to see a live sporting event. He made it his mission to visit every MLB stadium. Brian loved to travel and was well on his way to visiting all 50 states. He often related everyday life to Seinfeld episodes. He loved concerts, hair bands and TV-13 news.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his favorite people on the planet - his children, Brendan, Charli, Beau and Darcy; brother, Kevin, and his wife Brianna; niece Mia, and nephew Owen.
Service: A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 178 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe, with Father Eugene Ritz officiating. Call 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday, all services in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be sent to Panther Valley Girls Basketball c/o Athletic Dept./Kristin Black, 1 Panther Way, Lansford, PA 18232.
The Melber Funeral Home, Jim Thorpe, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carroll was a great teacher. He was kind and funny.
He didn´t yell at his students. He was patient and helpful.
He praised my neat desk. He loved my report on Helen Keller.
He called me Amelia Bedelia, and he made me like going to school.
