Charles D. Sandt, 61, of Saylorsburg, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Nancy Stafford. They were married 32 years.
Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late David and Ardalene (Matthias) Sandt.
He was a self-employed truck driver for 15 years, retiring in 2012. He had previously worked on the road crew for Ross Township for eight years, worked at Bethlehem Steel for three years and for St. Regis Paper Co., Nazareth, for eight years.
Charles liked to hunt and fish but he really loved driving his truck.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Betsyann Trefz, Downington; and Carly Bitler, Emmaus; a stepdaughter, Nancy Hussmann, Edgar, Neb.; a sister, Kathleen Tordonato, Easton; a brother, Ronald Sandt, Amarillo, Texas; and six grandchildren, Charles Nolan, Hannah Dunn, Christopher Omacht, Laura Raffaele, Thomas Raffaele and Kassidi Hussman.
Service: A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m., Monday, at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. David Felker officiating. Cremation will have taken place in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. Visitation 6 p.m., Monday until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kresge Funeral Home, P.O.
