Mrs. Donald W. Tyson Mrs. Darlene N. Tyson, 71, of Allentown Road, Quakertown, died Saturday, July 4, in her home. She was the wife of Donald W. Tyson. They were married for 51 years.She was a laminator for Artistic Glass Products before retiring in 2002. Born in West Penn Township, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Mabel (Kistler) Lutz.She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Quakertown.The deceased was a 1955 graduate of Tamaqua High School.She enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts and cultivating her Lenni Lenape heritage. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Kevin, and his wife, Kathy, of Andreas, and Kerry of Quakertown; two sisters, Linda, wife of David Tyson of Tamaqua, and Betty Seip of Topton; two brothers, Glenn, and his wife, Eileen, of New Ringgold, and Woodrow, and his wife, Susan, of Shoemakersville; and a sister-in-law, the Rev. Anna Lutz of Lancaster.She was also preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Earlin H. Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, Zion Stone Church, W. Penn Twp. Interment, church cemetery. Eulogy given for the funeral service on July 9th, 2009.
Darlene was a great sister-in-law. She liked to have fun and tease a lot. She and Betty would chase Woody when they were younger at picnics and Nana's gatherings and pull his nose. He was their baby brother and Nana told me when she was sick that Darlene used to rock him all the time to sleep. She said Darlene spoiled him rotten because there were 9 years difference in age. Darlene loved children and whenever we had family functions she would make her rounds holding each one of the little ones. While she was so sick she was still concerned about her family. She called Woody while he was in the hospital in June to see how he was doing even though she had difficulty breathing and it was an effort to talk. When he was released we went to see her and she looked relieved to see that he was ok. Whenever we could take Samantha along to visit Darlene, we did. She brought such delight to Darlene. When we would leave Samantha would say "I love you." which was sweet music to Darlene's ear and she would smile and say I love you too.
I showed her a picture of the luminary Tiffany and I had placed in her honor for the Relay for Life Walk that we participate in yearly. I told her it was in her honor and we will continue to do it in her memory just like we do for Nana. She said "ok and thank you so much, I really appreciate that."
She will never be forgotten. She and I were talking months ago and I said Donald is taking such good care of you. She said I couldn't have it any better. He's wonderful. He was truly amazing and nurses couldn't have done better. She was in the best hands of any care giver, her husband of 51 years. On behalf of the entire family we thank you.
When I last viewed Darlene, this song came to mind and it was Darlene's Life.
O Jesus I have promised to serve thee to the end. Be thou forever near me my master and my friend. I shall not fear the battle if thou art by my side nor wander from the pathway if thou wilt be my guide.

Dear Donald, Kevin, and Kerry,
You were the best neighbors we ever had ! Darlene was always so cheerful and friendly, and our kids just loved her. She got the nickname "Pockets" because she always had something in her pockets for my kids. What a joy she was! I know how difficult it was to see her in such pain. Our prayers are with your family during this difficult time. Darlene will be greatly missed. With our deepest sympathy,

I was so sorry to hear of Darlene's passing. I know she has been suffering for a while. Now she is at peace and free from all the pain. My Dad really liked her alot. He always said that he was so lucky to have great neighbors like the Tyson's. I'm sure Dad was up there welcoming her. My prayers are with your family. I know how hard this is. May God Bless you and give you the strength to get through this difficult time.

My family has known Darlene for a long time. My mother worked with Darlene at artistic glass. Darlene was a very caring, loving and special person.Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. She will be greatly missed, especially by "the gang".
