We in the American Society for Microbiology Education Department are very sad to hear the news. David was a vibrant part of the ASM Biology Scholars community. I sent messages to his colleagues in his program and all were shocked and grieved to hear the news. There were nothing but compliments for his hard work in the field of biology education. I don't think anyone else could have been more enthusiastic. Personally, I enjoyed talking with him about race cars and fly fishing. We will certainly recognize this loss to our community at the ASM Conference for Undergraduate Education to be held in July 2016. Please accept all our condolences from ASM Staff and Educators.
