Delbert Miller Obituary
Delbert F. "Butch" Miller Jr., 78, of New Ringgold, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in the Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading. He was the husband of Darlene S. (Hettinger) Miller. They were married for 60 years.
Born in Pottsville on Aug. 24, 1944, he was a son of the late Delbert F. and Madeline G. (Oxley) Miller.
He was a 1963 graduate of Blue Mountain High School.
He devoted most of his professional life to driving truck and working at the family restaurant.
Delbert was the owner/operator of D.F. Miller Trucking. He drove for J.W. Zaprazny and Halabura Tree Farms.
For 30 years, you could also find him every Sunday morning cooking breakfast at the McKeansburg Hotel, which he co-owned with his son Kevin. He never really retired and was always working on a project or helping a friend or family member in need.
Delbert was a member of the Pine Creek Fishing Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking, cooking family dinners and his family, and was always ready to fix what his family broke.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a sister, Barbara (Miller) Heffner; a daughter, Bonnie J. Miller, and her husband, George Davis, of New Ringgold; two sons, Kevin Miller, and his wife, Becky (Decosta) Miller, of Schuylkill Haven, and Scott Miller of Pottsville; grandchildren, Jessica (Haberstroh) Snyder and her husband, Jesse Snyder, and Travis and Tyler Miller; great-grandchildren, Estella Eberts, Danica Snyder, Maverick, Ronan and Avery Miller; and a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, Christ Church-McKeansburg, 6 S. Race St., New Ringgold, with Pastor Jonathan Heim officiating. Interment, Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Arrangements by Robert S. Nester Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2066 W. I was not in Delbert's group in school, became better friends after I came back from the Air Force in '83, I remember him as being "just a great guy", may his memories be joy to the hearts of all who knew him!

I'm am deeply sadden and heartsick at the passing of this great man who was such a beautiful friend to me, as well as the family. My heart, prayers and thoughts are all with you as you try to heal. Find comfort in all the memories and funny moments he created at every step in life. When I think of Delbert, my heart and face smiles with such joy as he brought a lot of humor, comfort and love to mine. He and Darlene were so blessed with many great years and a wonderful family. My love and prayers to you all.
