Donna Sarah 'Girlie' (Kunkle) Eckley

Donna Sarah "Girlie" (Kunkle) Eckley, 85, of Lehighton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025.

She was surrounded by her loving family.

On Nov. 6, 1939, she was born in the family home in Lehighton, where she lived her entire life.

Daughter of the late James E. and Ruth M. (Ziegenfus) Kunkle, Donna was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She loved her family and was well-known for her Christmas cookies and celebrating the holidays with her family.

She was a member of the Nazarene Church, Lehighton.

Survivors: daughters, Carol Kunkle, Dawn Zurn (David), Sonia Reabold (Walter), Jayann Bernheisel (Will); a son, Norman Eckley (Deanna); grandchildren, Kayla Smith (Zachary), David Zurn, Derrick Zurn, Katarina Kunkle, Mariah Eckley and Kayla Hagenbach; great-grandchildren, Abby Smith, Jace Smith, Aubrey Hagenbach and Haylen Neff; brother, Don T. (Judgie) Kunkle.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah Louise Kunkle; brothers, John and James Kunkle; sisters, Marian (Sis) Schindler and Ruth (Peggy) Schwiedop; her grandson, Kyle Hagenbach, and her beloved dog, Mitzie.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport, with the Rev. Anthony Pagotto officiating. Viewing is 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment: Lehighton Cemetery.
