Doreen Roth Obituary
Mrs. Doreen A. (Mertz) Roth, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township. She was the widow of Durelle A. Roth, who passed away on April 1, 2016.
She worked for the former Bar-Sew factory for 43 years and the former Scotty's Fashions for two years, and was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and a shop secretary for 42 years.
Born in the Mahoning Valley, Lehighton, on Sept. 2, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Helen V. (Mertz) Mertz.
She was a 1953 graduate of Lehighton High School.
The deceased was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Mahoning Union Sunday School, where she had 42 years of perfect attendance.
She was also a life member of the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club and the Orioles Nest No. 183 Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 314, all of Lehighton.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Eldon, Delbert and Gordon; and sisters, Eldora Herszeg, Phyllis Mertz, Delphine Miller and Jean Weiss.
Service: Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 826 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton, with the Rev. Anthony P. Pagotto officiating. Interment, church cemetery. Call 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5. Arrangements by Ovsak Funeral Home, Lehighton. Contributions in her name may be made to the church, 18235. Very sorry for your loss. I met Doreen through my work and she was a lovely person. Always beautifully dressed, polite, kind, she made a lasting impression on me as a true lady. Her devotion to Durelle was evident. May she rest in peace.
