Eric Long Obituary

Eric D. Long

In Loving Memory of Eric D. Long

June 11, 1955 – July 14, 2025

Eric "Rick" Long passed peacefully at home on Monday, July 14, 2025, with his beloved wife, Linda, by his side and surrounded by those who loved him dearly.

Throughout his life, Rick embraced every moment with passion and purpose. He enjoyed riding his Harley, racing, hiking through the woods, hunting, gardening, working with his hands, and simply living life to the fullest.

He was a devoted race car driver, best known for driving the #22 and #25 at Mahoning Valley Speedway. His love for woodworking led him to create custom furniture and meaningful pieces for friends and family alike.

Rick was a gifted mechanic and the heart of Rick's Auto Repairs, where he worked for over 40 years. Known for his honesty, skill and strong work ethic, he built lasting relationships within his community and beyond, always finding ways to give back to everyone around him. He was a beloved member of his community for over four decades. In addition to running his own shop, he worked in construction and was part of the team at Mauch Chunk Lake.

Known as "that guy who could fix anything," Rick was always ready to lend a hand. He was the one you could count on - a loyal friend, neighbor and helping hand. His warmth and generosity earned him the love and respect of countless people, including close friends: Tim, Nick, Johnny, Barry, Ronny, Uncle Buck, Terry, JD, Donny, Saas, Ratt, Bert, Mickey, Dave, the Mauch Chunk Lake crew, and many more.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his mother, Shirley; son, Quynntin; daughter, Lynette and her husband, Antonio Silva; stepdaughters, Bobbijean, and her husband, Chad Muffley Sr., and Tricia Messinger, and her partner, Steven Dustin.

He is also survived by his siblings: sister Lora and her husband, David Krum; brothers Kevin, and his wife, Carolyn, and Junny, and his wife, Sally; brother-in-law, Clarence Muffley; grandchildren, Bryce and Nolan Silva, MacKenzie and Jarred Muffley, and his fiancé, April McGeehan, Sadie Roth, and her fiancé, Matthew Gibbs, and John Roth Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Kaycee and Hazelee Muffley and Lainey Gibbs. Also remembered, a very dear friend John Roth Sr., father of Sadie and John.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Long Jr. (Little Ricky); grandson, Chad Muffley Jr.; sister, Linda Muffley; father, Henry Long, Sr.; and nephews Gavin and Dylan Krum.

To my beloved husband, Ricky

My heart is with you ...

My soul will follow ...

I will be with you ...

Forever and always.

All my love,

Linda

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in knowing Rick is now at peace in God's eternal care. We hold onto the love Rick gave so freely and the lasting impact he made on all of us. He was, and always will be, a treasure to both "Heaven and Earth." His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Service: Memorial service details will be announced at a later date. The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Rt. 209, Brodheadsville, is in charge of the arrangements.

So sorry to hear the loss of Rick. He was a great mechanic and more. Rick had a heart of gold just like his father Henry.
