George F. Breunig
George F. Breunig, 92, of Tamaqua and formerly of Emmaus, died Sunday, March 15, in Hometown. He was the husband of Lucille (Schollenberger) Breunig. Prior to retiring in 1985, he and his wife were the proprietors of George's Schwinn Cyclery, Emmaus. Previously, he was a welder for Traylor Engineering.
Born in Alburtis, he was a son of the late George F. and Elsie (Ruth) Breunig.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served aboard the LST 981 as a gunner's mate. He saw action in England during the Blitzkrieg, the Invasion of Normandy and the Occupation of Tokyo.
Breunig was a life member of Old Zionsville United Church of Christ.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife are three sons, Dennis, and his wife, Linda, of Fleetwood, Dean of Tamaqua and Daryl, and his wife, Wendy, of Mertztown; a daughter Donna, wife of Ronald DeBellis of Tamaqua; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter.
Service: Memorial service with military honors 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, Old Zionsville UCC, Kings Highway and Fountain Road, Old Zionsville. Private interment, parish cemetery.
