George J. Lill Jr.

George J. Lill Jr., 86, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, of Lake Hauto, Nesquehoning, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2023, in Maple Shade Senior Living, Nesquehoning. He was the husband of Ann Marie Rose (Pisklak) Lill.

Born on Thursday, June 24, 1937, in Summit Hill, he was a son of the late George J. Sr. and Angeline (Koin) Lill. George was a 1956 graduate of the former Summit Hill High School, and he served honorably in the U.S. Army.

He retired as the service manager from Kovatch Ford in Nesquehoning, and had worked at the former Rogers and Frantz's garages in Lansford, and the Grand Army Cemetery in Summit Hill.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.

George and Ann Marie enjoyed golfing and were longtime members of the former Mahoning Valley Country Club. George also participated in the Senior Golf League at White Birch Golf Course.

He helped Don Miller Jr. and Joe Breslin Racing as a race car mechanic.

George and Ann Marie spent many wonderful winters in St. Augustine, Florida, with their many snowbirding friends, golfing, fishing and enjoying a late afternoon vodka martini with friends.

Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife of 62 years, are a son, George P. Lill, and his wife, Karen, of Schnecksville; a daughter Kathy, wife of Mark Throne of Bethlehem; a brother, Harry Lill of Summit Hill; three sisters, Roseanne, wife of Steve Lukash, and Marie, wife of Richard Boyd, both of Summit Hill, and Lorraine Pazo of Bath; two grandchildren, Emily, wife of Greg Sheehan of Yardley, and Adam Throne of Bethlehem; a great-grandson, Grant Sheehan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by a brother, Michael Lill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of the Panther Valley, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill. Interment with military honors will be at Grand Army Cemetery in Summit Hill. Call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday in the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.

Memorials in his name can be made to a charity of one's choice.
