Glenn Costenbader

Glenn Alan Costenbader, 69, of Winnsboro, S.C., passed peacefully away on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Bert and Josephine (Christman) Costenbader.

He graduated from Lehighton High School, where he was a member of wrestling team, and attended Vo-Tech school. After graduation, he worked for the New Jersey Zinc Co. and was a Vo-Tech Instructor/Machine Shop Lehighton Electronics, Firefighter/Fire Police. He started his own business with building & construction, and retired from Mack Trucks after 33 years of service.

Glenn was a true leader and dedicated himself to helping and teaching people anyway possible. He was a member of UAW Local 677 at Mack Trucks in PA, and served as an alternate steward while working in production, Tool Shop. He served on the executive board with UAW Local 5841, Mack Trucks, as Union officers - Trustee, Sergeant in Arms, Guide, and Financial/Treasurer on Retirees Board, and was dedicated to the UAW. He served on the Election, Bylaws, Recreational, CAP and Mack Trucks Fire Brigade committees. Glenn also served as alternate steward while at Mack Trucks in his position as Tool Repair/ Maintenance.

A machinist by trade, he enjoyed tinkering in his shop and repairing any tool imaginable. But, being raised on a farm, he loved gardening and spending time outdoors was his real passion. Glenn also loved his music. Merle Haggard was his favorite, but he mostly relished singing with his mother as a child.

He was member of Lehighton Fire Co. No. 1, Lehighton Fire Police, Lehighton Jaycees, American Legion Post 314 and was a Brother of Masons, Winnsboro Lodge No. 11, A.F.M.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 23 years, Toni B. Costenbader; sons, Heath Costenbader (Miriam) and Matthew Costenbader (Kayla); daughters, Vickie Davis (Jason) and Melissa Clemons (Gary); a brother, Ray Costenbader (Diane); sisters, Marveline Costenbader and Joanne Frable (Ronnie); grandsons, Austin and Drake; granddaughters, Sally, Ellie and Emma; a great-grandson, Evan; and one due in Feb. (Connor); along with many nieces and nephews.

Glenn was also predeceased by a brother, Rodney Costenbader.

A service planned in Palmerton has been canceled.
