Mrs. Helen Becker

Mrs. Helen Becker, 92, formerly of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 17, 2023, in Rockville, MD. She was the widow of Robert E. Becker, who passed away on May 26, 2003.

She was a trimmer for the former Kay Jay Pants Company, Nesquehoning, until retiring.

Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Sinko) Zavagansky.

She was a graduate of Nesquehoning High School and was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Nesquehoning, where she gave endless hours volunteering.

Helen loved flowers. She enjoyed planting them in her garden and attending the Philadelphia Flower Show, the Azalea Festival, MD, and the Cherry Blossom Festival, Washington, D.C.

She was an avid Hummel collector and enjoyed listening to Johnny Mathis.

Helen also attended numerous Penn State football games, but especially loved spending precious time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Georgeann, wife of Jeff Vaclavik of Bethlehem, and Helen, wife of Paul Calvo of Rockville; five grandchildren, Robert, Anthony, Brady, Vincent and Giovanna; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Zavagansky, Margaret Zavagansky, Susan Matsick and Anna Csaszar; and a brother Michael Zavagansky.

Service: Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 141 W. High St., Nesquehoning, with Rev. Dr. Vasyl Chepelskyy officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Contributions in her name may be made to the church, c/o the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E.
