Jacquelyn Roeseler Obituary

Jacquelyn Roeseler

Jacquelyn Roeseler, 91, was a wife to Karl, mother of three: Peter (Terri), Gretchen and Lisa (Rick); and an avid collector of just about anything that could be described as charming, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

An achiever since her youth, Jacquelyn honed her crafting and creative skills with the encouragement of both her artisan parents from the meager supplies she could find as a child of the Great Depression. As a young adult, she was initially admitted to Millersville University in a prestigious industrial arts program due a mistaken assumption that her name was "Jack Lynn" and proceeded to open a new world of opportunity for female students in a time when women weren't taken seriously in academic spheres, especially in those traditionally only open to men.

Jacquelyn enjoyed a teaching career spanning almost two decades, in which she taught woodshop, metal shop, drafting and graphic arts, mastering the craft in each. Upon finishing her career in the classroom, she devoted her retirement to reflexology, in which she would have many loyal clients.

The self-proclaimed "queen of unfinished projects," Jacquelyn filled her afternoons with sewing, needlework, model building and woodworking, just to name a few. A bookworm at heart, Jacquelyn could easily finish multiple novels in a week and kept a steady stream of recommendations for her friends and family.

She is survived by nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and plenty of nieces and nephews.

Service: Memorial visitation 4-6 p.m. Saturday, July 6, Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport. Private interment at convenience of family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to East Coast Corgi Rescue, 2428 39th St. NW, Washington, DC 20007, or online donation at eastcoastcorgierescue.org.

What a great person she was... I got to know Jacquelyn when I still worked for home health care in the 80´s. Her aunt was one of our home bound clients, and she resided with Jackie and Karl. I loved their huge old farmhouse, and I got to know her so well. She always had a project going; was always so personable and interesting to talk to. An amazing, educated woman who had done a lot of living in her time. I lost track of her over the years, but always treasured the time spent at Jacquelyn´s house with her family. Rest in peace, dear lady.

Jackie was a great source of wisdom and advice. I'll miss her perspective. Will never forget the time I left my phone at her home and she got the police to hand deliver it to my house.

You were many different things to many different people. You left an impact on so many lives. To me you were always a safe place full of love and big hugs, you were the best Oma I could have ever hoped for and more. I will never forget all the things you taught me, all the books you shared, all the compassion and love you gave. I will always remember you sneaking us candy and taking me out for my birthdays. I love you Oma!
