Joan David Obituary

Joan S. David
Joan S. David, 91, of Ashfield, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, in her home and in the care of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore L. David, who died in 2013.
She was a loving, dedicated companion and caretaker for more than 60 years of marriage.
Born in Jamestown, she was a daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Richmond) Stimmel.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother George and a sister, MaryJane Eckhart.
She worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a young woman and was known locally as a clerk at Rex's Royal Swan for many years. Most importantly, she devoted herself to raising a family.
Surviving are three sons, Teddy, and his wife, MaryAnn (Pavlik), Dan, and his companion, Deb Torcivia, and Tim, and his wife, Kathy (Michalik); and two daughters, Bonnie, and her companion, Phil Morgan, and Cindy and Stan Cordova.
When her first grandchild arrived, Joan resisted traditional grandmother names and christened herself JD. For years, she and Pop were fixtures at the ballgames, plays and concerts of all her of their grandchildren.
JD is remembered lovingly by Parker, Thatcher and Spence David, Taylor and Lukas David and Schyler and Ben Cordova. Other members of her extended family who will miss her include a brother Phil, brother-in-law, Dick Eckhart, Sadie (Cordova) and husband, Dan Marchant, and their children, and nieces and nephews.
Joan had an abundance of energy and was always on the go. She liked to go for walks, on trips and shopping. Joan enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and sister and brother-in-law, Dev and Dale David. She also hiked, biked, kayaked and windsurfed into her later years and shared her love for the outdoors with all of her children and grandchildren. She will be missed.
Service: Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, Dinkey Memorial Church, Ashfield. Interment, private. Arrangements by Ovsak Funeral Home, Lehighton. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation at actAlzheimers.org. Online condolences can be offered at www.ovsakfh.com.
