Mrs. Joan A. (Behler) Hochberg

Mrs. Joan A. (Behler) Hochberg, 83, of Lehighton, went to be with her Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025. She was the wife of the late Carl "Si" Hochberg, who passed away on Jan. 6, 2013.

Joan was a proud mother of three children, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always there to care for her family without hesitation.

Born in Union Hill, Lehighton, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Snyder) Behler.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Lehighton.

Surviving are her children, Carlene wife of Mike Barchesky, Carl Hochberg, husband of Ruth, and Cathy, wife of Joe Eckman; six grandchildren, Stephen, Liz, Melissa, Lainey, Carter and Anders; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Maryann Muffley and Violet, wife of Larry Solt; brothers-in-law, Walter Serfass and Earl Reabold; many nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion, Bob Martin. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Sandra Serfass, Jean Reabold and Marion Beidleman, and her husband Larry; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Muffley.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, Schaeffer Funeral Home, 300 Alum St., Lehighton, with the Rev. Dean Frey officiating. Committal service will follow in the Lehighton Cemetery. Viewing 10-11 a.m. Monday. Schaeffer Funeral Home, Lehighton, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
