Joan I. Orsulak

Joan I. Orsulak, 88, of Lansford, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township. She was the widow of Joseph C. "Gypsy Joe" Orsulak, who passed away in 1989.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Thomas "Hogan" Major and Mary (Wargo) Major.

Joan worked at the former Lansford AMVETS Post as a server for weddings, funerals and other catered events.

She was a member of the former St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Lansford, and a current member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.

Surviving are her children, Paul Orsulak and his wife, Faith, of West Penn Township, Joseph Orsulak and his wife, Dawn, of Villages, FL, and Mary Beth Paul with whom she resided; a sister, Mary Regina "Ginny" Rose of Nesquehoning; grandchildren, Mark Paul and his wife, Melissa, Stacie Paul, Megan Paul and Paul Orsulak; great-grandchildren, Mikaia Paul and Zaid Paul; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Major.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1 at St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, Summit Hill. Call 9-11 a.m. Monday in the church. Contributions in her name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Carbon County Animal Shelter or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
