Joanne M. Jones, 77, of Walnutport, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem. She was the wife of Carson R. Jones, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage on April 19, 2024.

Born on Feb. 5, 1947, in Trachsville, she was a daughter of the late Russell Strohl and Egerna (Beers) Strohl.

After graduating high school, Joanne continued her education, earning her registered nurse degree, and received a position at the former Allentown General Hospital, now Lehigh Valley Hospital-Allentown Campus, serving 32 years before retiring in 2004.

Joanne was a member of Jerusalem U.C.C. Church, Trachsville.

She was formerly active at St. John's U.C.C., Slatington.

Joanne was very involved through the years with both Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troop 15, Walnutport, Minsi Trail Council, serving as Den Mother and Scout Leader since 1977. She was also a former member of Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Cherryville, for many years.

Surviving in addition to her husband are sons, Michael Jones (Krista) and Trevor S. Jones (Donna), both of Walnutport; sisters, Marlene Rep of Coudersport and Sharon McFarland (Rick) of Slatington; and a grandson, Eston.

Service: Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, with the Rev. Marian Johnson officiating. Interment, Trachsville Cemetery. Call 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.
