John Lopata Obituary

John G. Lopata

John G. Lopata, 86, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, in the Greenwood Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Hometown.

He was employed as a foreman for the former Bethlehem Steel Company until his retirement, and was also a former police officer in Nesquehoning.

Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Dvorshock) Lopata.

A 1957 graduate of Lansford High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was a past president of the Nesquehoning Borough Council and the Nesquehoning Fire Company and Ambulance Corps and was a former Nesquehoning Little League coach.

He was also a member of the Coaldale Legion.

He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia, which he sold along with his coins each week at the Hometown Farmers Market. John loved his time spent with his family camping at Rosemont Camp Grounds.

Surviving are a daughter Debra, wife of Robert Nevenglosky of Nesquehoning; a son, Mark Lopata, and his wife, Jacalynne (Majez), of Nesquehoning; grandchildren, Scott Nevenglosky, Adam Nevenglosky, and his finance, Samantha, Kory Lopata, and his wife, Krista, and Jake Lopata, and his fiancée, Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Jace, Azelea and Emmett; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Joan Wall; and brothers, Michael and Robert Lopata.

Service: Private memorial service at convenience of the family. Military interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, Nesquehoning, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Online condolences can be offered at www.blazoskyfh.com.
