Joseph B. Bubble

Joseph B. Bubble, 77, father, grandfather, brother and friend, of Jim Thorpe, passed away on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, in the Accent Care Inpatient Hospice Center, Wilmington, DE, surrounded by his daughters.

Born on Tuesday, June 10, 1947, in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Joseph and Kathleen (Bright) Bubble.

Joe was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sara M. (Mulholland) Bubble, on Sept. 30, 2024; a brother, Alfred P. Bubble; a sister, Sandra K. Wychulis, and her late husband, Carl "Bud;" a niece, Angela Rhubright Dewine; and nephews, Rodney Bubble and Mark Waidell.

Surviving are daughters, Jolene Baddick, wife of Eric, and Megan Dickey, wife of Jason, both of Wilmington; a brother, Leon Bubble, and his wife, Karen; sister, Betty Ann Waidell, wife of Mark; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bubble; grandsons, Evan Baddick and Macon Dickey; nieces, Cheryl Martuscelli, Tina Gallagher and Rhonda Bubble; and a nephew, Joseph "Joey" Bubble.

A 1965 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Joe served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Joe was a "Railroader" who retired to Bear Creek Lakes in Jim Thorpe after a long career from Amtrak, a career that relocated his family from Tamaqua to Meriden, CT, then Albany, N.Y., then finally settling in Wilmington.

A talented woodworker, he enjoyed making furniture and carving duck decoys. He was an avid outdoorsman who looked forward to fishing and hunting trips.

Catholic by faith, Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Wilmington and the Tamaqua American Legion.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Interment, Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday. Contributions in his name may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

A Vietnam Veteran has passed away today. Joe, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow Vietnam Veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.
