Justin Harakel Obituary
Jut loved the outdoors, from biking to fishing. He was an avid sports fan, true to the orange and white of the Tennessee Volunteers. When he was in grade school, he wrote to and received a note and autograph from Peyton Manning while he was at Tennessee.
Hanging with friends and listening to music, particularly Phish and Pearl Jam, he was a "Coal Region" guy, proud of his upbringing. He loved his family and his baby nephew Mason, just 11 days old.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Edward B. II, and his wife, Marika, of New Ringgold; maternal grandparents, Paul C. and Grace L. Hoffman of Tamaqua; uncles, aunts and cousins; and his girlfriend, Brianna Casserly.
He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert P. and Delores E. Harakel.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. Richard Boyer officiating. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. Call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday. Contributions in his name may be made to the Tamaqua High School Athletic Dept., Stadium Hill, Tamaqua, Pa. 18252, the Tuscarora Fire Co., Tuscarora, Pa. 17982, or the Hillside S.P.C.A., Pottsville, Pa. 17901. Sorry to hear about the lose. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. I went to BCTC and seen him in the halls almost every day and he even came into my shop to sub and he was a nice guy. I can't believe that this happened to him.

Im gonna miss you Justin we had great times in tech all the times you would yell " HEFFNER GET BACK TO WORK" just so mack wouldnt yell at you. Tech it was great ill never forget the day after i got my underage you were like bud dont let it bother you i got a few under my belt haha but you were somebody i could always talk to you i wouldnt even consider you a teacher i consider you a friend of mine that will be missed lots. my thoughts are with the family and friends

I will never forget the first time I met Justin.. I was in 8th grade in a classroom full of people I didn't know, and he just kept talking to me and making me laugh and through his warmth I didn't feel like a stranger anymore. You were one hell of a guy, The only teacher at Vo-tech that i looked forward to seeing everyday, The only teacher i EVER would actually hangout with outside of school, You made every single day at that place a fun time, even when we would be fighting about something we couldnt help but smile and laugh a few seconds later.. and i'd bet my life that Everyone in that shop felt about the same way. Mr. Harakel was a wonderful person. He was spirited and enjoyed educating his students. He was so easy to talk with and he had a way of making things seem so at ease. Mr. Harakel was a great guy. For the two years i knew him, he had helped me through everything. From the times we needed a friend the most to just the jokes in the shop at tech. He trully will be missed. Rest In Peace Mr. Harakel.

Jut, you were my bud in elementarty school when we would get into trouble running around the school waiting for your mom and my aunt to get done grading papers, we remained buds throughout jr high and HS, even escorting me to February Formal my senior year :)....laughs and smiles are what I have and will always remember you by. Mr. Harakel was what kept the Diesel Shop fun. He always had a smile on his face and never put us down. he was always teaching us or learning with us. He was always there for us. Many of us looked at him as a brother, or sometimes as a father figure. My condolences to the family. God Bless

When i heard the news this morning i cried...even though i haven't known Mr. Harakel for a long period of time i still felt he was very close to me. He was a dedicated teacher who helped me with anything at anytime. It will never be the same without him and i will not be able to imagine another teacher sitting at his desk. I cannot even begin to express what a big blow it is to everyone to lose Jut. He brought a light to this world that is unforgettable, and the world is not as good without him in it. We didn't know Justin personally but knew of him and the Harakel family by way of our children and living in the area for many years. We are so very sorry for your loss. We lost our daughter Amanda four years ago to cancer at the age of 27. May you find peace and comfort in each other and in celebrating Justin's life and memory.
