Leonard E. Eckhart

Leonard E. Eckhart, 88, of Franklin Twp, Lehighton, passed away Thursday morning, September 25, 2025 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Gloria (Green) Eckhart since June 23, 1956.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Alvin S.E. and Lauretta (Walck) Eckhart. He was a 1955 graduate of S.S. Palmer High School.

Leonard was a local entrepreneur in Lehighton, starting as owner of Ecky's Sinclair and partner at Al-Len Motors. Later, he was a manager of K.J. Breiner Texaco, then manager of the Koehler Marvin Realty office in Car Country before retiring.

He served as Franklin Twp. Zoning Officer, Sewage Enforcement Officer, and Supervisor for 20 years, a member of the Lions Club, and a life member of the Fire Company.

He spent winters in Daytona Beach, FL for 30 years, enjoying the warm beaches, car shows, NASCAR races, and motorcycle weeks.

Leonard was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton.

Survivors: Wife; daughters Vicky and husband Paul Kocher, Holly and husband Steve Klotz, Nina and husband Dennis Haldeman; daughter-in-law Melodie Eckhart; son-in-law Barry Flyte; grandchildren Tony and Trans Eckhart, Dawn Mriss, Tara Derr, Brandi Flyte Franzen, Cameron Klotz, Camara Resh, Levi Haldeman, Lacey Magyar; great-grandchildren Damon Eckhart, Austin Eckhart, Brynn and Brian Mriss, Parker and Phoenix Derr, Riley Resh, Liam and Eli Haldeman, Sadie and Lenny Magyar.

He was predeceased by his daughter Lori Flyte, son Dino, brothers Barry and Alvin L. "Corky", and sister Barbara Schoch.

Services: Memorial, 11 a.m. Friday, October 10 in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 S 3rd St, Lehighton. Call 10-11 a.m. Friday in church. Arrangements, T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, Palmerton.

I am sorry to see of Lenny´s passing. He got me my first car, a 1973 Ford Pinto hatchback, when I worked at KJ Breine, just out of high school. My sincere condolences to his family. May your memories comfort you at this difficult time.
