Lola E.A. Ruzicka

Mrs. Lola E.A. Ruzicka, 96, passed away on Tuesday, March 19.
Born in Palmerton, she was the 11th of 12 children born to the late Amazon and Percy (Strohl) Fatzinger. She graduated from Palmerton High School in 1934. Soon after graduation, she met her future husband, John Ruzicka. They eloped and were married in Elkton, Md., in 1937.Lola and John owned Johnny's Place in Lansford for many years before moving to Palmerton. There, they owned and operated the Hazard Hotel for over 25 years. After leaving the bar business and John's passing, Lola worked for Shea's Hardware, Palmerton.
She volunteered for the Palmerton Hospital Owls Nest; was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Palmerton Sokol Hall bowling team; and loved to participate in the Project Tuesday group at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bowmanstown, where she was a longtime member.
Surviving are a daughter, Laraine Walck of Walnutport; a son Thomas, and his wife, Natividad, of Palmerton; five grandchildren, Joseph Ruzicka, Christine, wife of Jason Malick, Mark T. Walck, and his wife, Veronica, Lynne, wife of Michael Kruslicky, and Tracey Evans; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, Trinity Lutheran Church, Bowmanstown. Interment, Towamensing Cemetery. Call 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the church.
