Mrs. Louise G. Schneider

Mrs. Louise G. (Mullen) Schneider, 92, of Nesquehoning, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, in her home. She was the loving wife of William A. Schneider, sharing over 69 years of marriage. They were united in marriage in 1953 by her uncle, the Rev. Robert V. Lawrence, O.S.A.

She was employed for many years at York Hospital, Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, and the Lehigh Valley Hospital, until her retirement in 1995.

Born in York on Dec. 13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd A. Mullen and Agnes E. (Lawrence) Mullen.

She graduated from York Catholic High School as Salutatorian in 1949 and from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Allentown, earning her RN degree in 1952.

She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church, York, and SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, belonging to the Altar and Rosary societies at both.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, William J. Schneider, and his wife, Sylvia, of Culpeper, VA, Joseph D. Schneider, and his wife, Martha, of Orting, WA, and Francis A. Schneider, and his wife, Irene, of Sterling Heights, MI; six daughters, Theresa L. Innerst of Weatherly, Ann E. Wilhelm, and her husband, Joseph, of Lehighton, Rita M. Mest, and her husband, Willard, of Alburtis, Margaret R. McCabe, and her husband, Robert, of Zionsville, Mary A. Miller, and her husband, Ricky, of Tamaqua, and Joan M. Radler, and her husband, Dirk, of Lehighton; 25 grandchildren; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Francis J. Mullen; two sisters, Rita Sagedy and Helena Angle; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by a daughter, Cecilia M. Havens; a brother, Lloyd Mullen; and five sisters, Mary A. Reilly, Sr. Agnes Anthony Mullen, SSJ, Sr. Mary Rita Mullen O. Carmel, Sr. Rosemarie Mullen, MSC, and Catherine M. Livelsberger.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 260 N. Third St., Lehighton. Interment, parish cemetery, Lehighton. Call 10-11 a.m. Monday in the church. Arrangements by Ovsak Funeral Home, Lehighton. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the church, 18235.
