Lucy Josephine Tessitore

Lucy Josephine Tessitore, 84, of Broadway, Jim Thorpe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. She was formerly married to Robert "Peanuts" Tessitore, who passed away in 2008.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Fred "Fritz" Zanders, Elizabeth (Cadden) Large, and her step-father, John Large.

Lucy was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was deeply devoted to her faith and church, never missing a service.

She had attended Mauch Chunk Catholic High School.

Lucy had worked as a waitress in numerous local restaurants and businesses among them, Howard Johnson's on the Pa. Turnpike, the former BP Gas Station on Susquehanna St., Jim Thorpe; and the former ACME in Jim Thorpe.

Lucy loved playing bingo.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa, wife of Michael Moyer of Tower City; Mary Jeanne Durishin and fiancé, Clint Schleicher of Lehighton; Gina, wife of Scot Samoleski of Albrightsville; sons, Joseph Tessitore, Robert "Tom" Tessitore, both of Lehighton; grandchildren, Daniel, Trisa, Lisa, Riley, Tegan, Michael, Jocelyn, Robbie, Sophia T., Giancarlo, Marco, Nickolas and Sophia S.

She was predeceased by sisters, Rosemary Brown, Joan Wert, Kathryn Halada, Elizabeth Mullen; and brothers, Robert Zanders, Joseph "Bonga" Zanders, and John "Jack" Large.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church, 180 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe with the Rev. Ronald Minner officiating. Memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe prior to Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be sent to the church.
