Mrs. Alan J. Papinsick


Mrs. Marian F. Papinsick, 51, of Lissa Lane, Sugarloaf, died Tuesday in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, following a short illness. She was the wife of Alan J. Papinsick. They would have observed their 29th wedding anniversary on Sept. 14.

She was employed as a human resources manager for Office Max in Humboldt, and also worked as an administrative assistant for PPL at Susquehanna from 1979-89. In addition, she had been an administrative assistant for Butler Township, was with the auditing department of First Federal, and was an office manager and human resources manager for the St. Luke Pavilion, Hazleton.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Anthony J. and Anna (Varga) Kropf, and had resided in the Conyngham Valley for the past 29 years after moving from Coplay.

She was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Conyngham, where she was a Eucharistic Minister.

The deceased was a former Girl Scout Troop leader; a graduate of Leadership Hazleton; and a member of the Drums Lioness and the CVCO.

She enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter Jessica, who attends Wilkes University; a son Christopher, a 2008 graduate of Hazleton Area High School who will attend Hood College, Frederick, Md., in the Fall; two brothers, Anthony C., and his wife, Gail, of Silver Spring, Md., and Col. Carl, U.S. Army Ret., and his wife, Cathy, of Herndon, Va.; two nieces and three nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a nephew, Kyle Papinsick.

The Harman Funeral Homes and Crematory, 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, is in charge of the arrangements.
