Mark R. Rehrig

Mark R. Rehrig, 84, of 96 Blue Mountain Road, Ashfield, passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 7, in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Mildred C. (Kershner) Rehrig. They were married for 61 years last July 4.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Sears, Roebuck & Co. at its main service center, Catsauqua.
Born in East Penn Township, he was a son of the late Calvin and Hattie (Nothstein) Rehrig.
He was a member of Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church, Ashfield, where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served with the 60 & Up Elders.
Rehrig was a member of the Sears Retirees' Club, and donated a large portion of his life to the East Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company, where he held a life membership and served as captain of the fire police.
He also belonged to the Pa. State Fire Police Association and the Carbon County Fire Police Association, and, in his spare time, enjoyed being an outdoorsman during hunting and fishing seasons.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter Nina of Allentown; two sons, David, and his wife, Dolores, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Scott, and his wife, Alice, of Walnutport; a brother Clair, and his wife, Eva Jane, of Cherryville; six grandchildren, Andrea and Stephanie Mickus and Steven, Michelle, Michael and Christopher Rehrig; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Dale; and two sisters, Ellen Youse and Ruth Knepper.
Service: Celebration of Life service 11 a.m. Monday, April 12, Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church, Ashfield, with the Rev. Anthony P. Pagotto officiating. Interment, church cemetery.
