Matilda Labosky Obituary

Mrs. Matilda Labosky

Mrs. Matilda "Tillie" Labosky, 96, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 9, 2023, in the St. Luke's Miners Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of Peter Labosky, who passed away on Jan. 8, 1987.

Tillie was employed as a trimmer for the former Kiddie Kloes Company in Lansford until retiring.

Born in Lansford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Pekarik) Kosalko.

She was a member of the former St. Michael's Slovak Roman Catholic Church and the former St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, and was a current member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.

She was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Jednota Association.

For many years, she was an active member of the Lansford Golden Agers and enjoyed many national and international trips with her friends in that organization.

She was also a member of the former St. Michael's Holy Name Society and Funeral Choir for many years, as well as an avid volunteer for organizations such as the MMMC Geriatric Center, Coaldale, and pinching pierogis with her friends at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford.

Tillie also enjoyed swimming at the Lansford pool, crossword puzzles and rooting for the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots.

Surviving are a grandson, Lee Labosky, and his wife, Rachel, of Gettysburg; a granddaughter Rachel, wife of Daniel Chlebowski of Bethlehem; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Chlebowski; a sister Margaret, wife of Peter Bashago of Lansford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, David, who died in 1982, and James, who died in 2010; three sisters, Rose Horowski, Dorothy Pogwist and Mary Underwood; and four brothers, Thomas, Paul and Joseph Kosalko and John Vargas.

Service: Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, April 14, St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, with the Rev. Christopher Zelonis officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 9-9:45 a.m. Friday in the church. The Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home, Lansford, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Contributions in her name may be made to the St. Luke's Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 360 W. Ruddle St., 5th Floor, Coaldale PA 18218. Online condolences can be offered at www.blazoskyfh.com.
