Mrs. Olga S. Weiss


Mrs. Olga S. Weiss, 91, of W. Ruddle St., Coaldale, died Thursday in the Geriatric Center at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. She was the widow of J. Robert Weiss, who died Sept. 15, 1978.

Prior to retiring, she had been employed by Collins and Aikman in North Carolina. She was also employed in the real estate industry in North Carolina. Previously, she had been employed by the former Bright's Department Store, Lansford.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Nestor and Harriet (Wyshosky) Scarloss.

She was a member of St. Mary Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale.

A 1935 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, she earned an associate degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Surviving are two sons, David Weiss and his wife, Louan of Denver, Col., and Bruce Weiss and his wife, Joanne, of Silver Spring, MD; a stepson, Jack Weiss and his wife, Connie, of Lake Ariel; a sister, Stephanie Chmel of Coaldale; two grandchildren, Jesse Weiss of Silver Spring, MD and Lt. J.G. Ben Weiss and his wife, Kate, in Hawaii; stepgrandchildren, Scott Allen Weiss of Lehighton and Jill Marie and her husband, Todd of Wallenpack.

She was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Betty; and two sisters, Anna Scarloss, who died in infancy, and Mary Solomon.

The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of arrangements.

Services:Funeral service Tuesday, 2 p.m., St. Mary Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale, with the Rev. Daniel Mathewson officiating. Interment, Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday. in the church. Contributions in her name may be made to the church. Online registry at zrgfuneralhomes.com.
