Richard C. Bachert

Richard C. Bachert, 82, of Palmerton, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, in his residence. He was the loving husband of Ann Marie (Korona) Bachert for 43 years.

Born on Aug. 26, 1943, in New Ringgold, he was the son of the late Carl Bachert and the late Ester (Brobst) Bachert.

After graduating in 1961 from Pine Grove High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country for six years, earning the rank of SP4E4 before being honorably discharged in 1967.

Once returning home, he enrolled at Lincoln Technical Institute and received his degree in electronics.

Richard worked his whole life as a truck driver, driving for Matlack, Chemical Leheman, La Rouche, Air Gas and Frantz Brothers.

He was a past president and life member of Towamensing Township Volunteer Fire Company, captain and founding member of Towamensing Fire Police, past president of the BMW Sportsman Motorcycle Club, and a member of Palmerton VFW, the American Legion and the Turtle Club.

Surviving are sons, Richard V. Bachert of Pillow, PA, and Stephen C. and Mary Bachert of Plymouth, PA; and grandchildren, Cera, Jake and Sean Bachert, all of Palmerton.

He was also predeceased by brothers, Harold and Clarence Bachert; and a sister, Helen Rouch.

Service: Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, Trachsville. Call 1-2 p.m. Monday. Contributions in his name may be made to the Carbon Co. Animal Shelter, 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240. Online condolences can be offered at www.schislerfuneralhomes.com.
